Description
This is a study for a larger painting with a Fawn and Doe. It was a great opportunity to study the color and anatomy of this little Whitetail fawn. The setting is the Bison Range which is a federal trust ownership for the Confederated Salish and Kootenai Tribes, near Moiese, Montana. In Montana I’m able to observe more Mule Deer that Whitetails. Although here in the Eastern states, where I live the majority of the year, there are only Whitetails. This day we were traveling to view the Bison, of which there are hundreds, but saw this fawn and it’s mom by the side of the one-way dirt road that encircles the Bison Range. I just had to take lots of photos when we saw them feeding near the road.
